While we commemorate Black history and the plurality of Black voices and stories with full focus every February (Black History Month), we aim not to confine or reduce Black history to a mere month. Black history is American History. Our history is complex and interwoven, but has been told too long from a singular perspective of the dominant culture. We honor Black History Month all year long by placing the African-American narrative front and center across all genres.
