Books That Go BEYOND THE BINARY

Inspired by the weekly KTUH radio program, Beyond the Binary, this eponymous collection of books explores issues of identity and our tendency to see the world through a binary lens (meaning either/or). We rely to varying degrees on certain categories and labels to help us understand ourselves and our environment. But what if we blurred or merged categories and then began to see everything BEYOND that, in both/and terms?

DJ Captain Oskar (they/them) charts a course navigating the deep waters of the LGBTQIA+ sea. The cargo aboard their vessel is an eclectic menagerie of precious representations of fruity music, artists, and topics. Their weekly radio program enlightens and exposes the flaws in binary forms of thinking and in that process helps folks question the foundation of what is considered normal in our world's variety of perspectives.
