How can you miss that bright yellow cover on a bookshelf?! I immediately picked it up and was delighted to find a very clever story about an "exclamation mark" who was trying so hard to fit in with his fellow peers, "The Periods." He tries all sorts of positions but sadly it doesn't work. Then someone unexpected arrives, pummeling hi with all sorts of questions until Exclamation Mark screams 'STOP!!!" and that's when he realizes his true identity and talent.
"Finally, the protagonist has "(broken) free from a life sentence." In the end, Exclamation Mark learns it's okay to be different from the rest. I read this book to a group of third graders who were so engaged and giggled throughout. This is a GREAT read-aloud book and a must-have for the classroom.
