HI SOUP is a micro-granting dinner celebrating, supporting, and funding creative projects in Hawaii. For a donation of $15, participants receive soup, bread and a vote. Participants usually hear from three projects ranging from urban agriculture to social entrepreneurship. For this SOUP we’ll focus specific on project related to all things literary! At the event, attendees eat, talk, and vote on the project they think benefits the city the most. At the end of the night, organizers collect the ballots and the project with the most votes goes home with the money raised to carry out their project. Project winners come back to a future HI SOUP dinners to report on their project’s progress and how they used the community funding. The community grants range between $500 to $1200 dollars.
