A very special workshop and book signing in Honolulu, in conjunction with the recent publication of "The Gift of Calligraphy: A Modern Approach to Hand Lettering with 25 Projects to Give and to Keep". This 2 hour workshop is designed for complete beginners. Inspire and immerse yourself in the elegant art of calligraphy. The focus will be on learning to hold the pen and making a mark, and less about perfection. You will be amazed at how meditative the process of practicing can be.

Each person will receive a personalized calligraphy kit which includes black and white ink, calligraphy pen (a wooden holder and nib) a practice book black and white paper, a signed copy of The Gift of Calligraphy book and lots of inspiration to continue your practice on your own.

Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls, calligraphy teacher and author of Belle Calligraphy, brings her signature modern style to this traditional craft. Projects are all accompanied by clear step-by-step photography and inspiring shots of the finished pieces.

About the artist: Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls

With over 15 years of experience, she has been commissioned for bespoke wedding invitations, editorial features, and licensed products, exhibiting her elegant and playful signature style for a range of clients. Her work has appeared in Martha Stewart Weddings, Sunset Magazine, Victoria, Better Homes and Gardens, and Brides, and has been featured on Design*Sponge, Besotted, Brooklyn Bride, Oh Happy Day, Snippet & Ink, Sunday Suppers, and Style Me Pretty.

Drawing inspiration from her botanical engravings, vintage alphabet specimens, and her numerous travels abroad, Maybelle has been known to journey to Paris for just the right calligraphy nib. Her love of ephemera and faraway places inspired a few collaborations such as “Belle Calligraphy Kit” published in 2015 is a calligraphy kit based on the materials and supplies that she has designed for her workshops. She developed "Calligraphy in the 21st Century", a popular San Francisco workshop booked months in advance, as a way to share her passion with the creative community. She has taught her workshop in Brisbane, Honolulu, Jaipur, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Portland, Sydney and Tokyo. "The Gift of Calligraphy" is her second publication.

Maybelle is from Kaneohe and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband and twins.
