Filipino American History Month in October
Filipino American History Month is an annual commemoration of the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States. In Hawaii, the first Filipino plantation workers--15 of them called sakadas--arrived in Honolulu on December 20th, 1906. Their arrival marked the beginning of a wave of Filipino immigrants in the islands.
